While these add a stunning visual element, some of these inks include particles that can be prone to clogging a fountain pen without proper maintenance. For the least amount of maintenance, it is recommended to use glass pens or dip pens. If using a fountain pen, wider nib sizes are recommended to ensure smooth ink flow and to minimize the risk of clogging. For optimal performance in fountain pens, write with the pen frequently, store the pen on its side, and clean the pen out if it will not be used for an extended period of time.
