Shiranami is a PLOTTER US Exclusive leather created for the Japan Blue Project, celebrating Japan’s indigo dyeing tradition and the iconic artistry of Hokusais Thirty-Six Views of Mount Fuji. Named after white-crested waves, Shiranami draws inspiration from the deep indigo hue used since the Asuka Period (710794). Developed in collaboration with a historic tannery in Himeji, this leather is dyed with natural indigo and finished with a white wax bloom, symbolizing sea foam. Over time, the wax fades to reveal the rich indigo beneath, enhancing its character through use.
The leathers untreated edges showcase the natural gradation of indigo dye, preserving the essence of traditional Aizome dyeing. Shiranami leather covers are available in the compact Mini sizeperfect for creatives who want to take notes anytime, anywhere.
